In the military-patriotic park of culture and recreation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation “Patriot”, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and closing of the competition of military topographers “Meridian”, which was held as part of the International Army Games-2021, was held.

The ceremony was opened by Major General Alexander Zaliznyuk, Chief of the Topographic Service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He congratulated all the participants of the competition on the completion of the competition and noted that the competition, despite the intense rivalry, was held in an atmosphere of friendship.

Throughout the competition, military topographers competed
in performing exercises in army tactical shooting from a machine gun, orienteering using a compass, as well as in special issues of geodesy, cartography and geoinformatics.

Competition “Meridian” was held for the first time in the framework of “ARMI-2021”
and included three stages “Azimuth”, “Topographic quadrotlon”, and “Fire training”. Military topographers from the Republic of Belarus, the People’s Republic of China, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic took part in the competition.

During the solemn ceremony, the winners and prize-winners of the competition were awarded. The winner of the competition was the team of the Russian Federation. The team of Belarus is in second place. The third place was shared by teams of topographers from China and Vietnam.
