The commander of the anti-aircraft gunners’ unit, Lieutenant Sergei Mayonov, was recognized as the most accurate marksman in the Mastery race of the Clear Sky competition held in China as part of the International Army Games 2021.

During the competition in the area of live shooting, an anti-aircraft gunner from the Igla-S MANPADS, the only one among all the participants in the competition, struck a Chinese TY-300D target missile, imitating a high-speed air target at an altitude of 1.5 thousand meters, with a direct hit.

The Russian team in the competition is competing with teams from five countries – the Republic of Belarus, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the host country, the People’s Republic of China.

The Russian team competes on domestic Typhoon-air defense vehicles and weapons – Igla-S portable anti-aircraft missile systems, Kord 12.7 mm machine guns and AK-12 assault rifles.

The rest of the competitors use weapons provided by the Chinese side (Type-95-1 assault rifle, QW-2 portable anti-aircraft missile system and 12.7-mm anti-aircraft machine gun and Type-92A armored personnel carrier).

As part of the competition program, anti-aircraft gunners will have two more stages, which will be held on August 28 (“Interaction” race) and September 1 (“Combined” race)

This year in the People’s Republic of China, at the Korla Land Forces training ground, three competitions of the International Army Games are being held: “Clear Sky”, in which servicemen of air defense units will compete, “Suvorov Onslaught” – a competition for the crews of infantry fighting vehicles and “Safe Environment “- competition between radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance units.
