Forty-nine battle banners of military units that participated in the battles of the Great Patriotic War were transferred to the historical museums of eleven constituent entities of the Russian Federation in the South of Russia during the military-technical forum of the Southern Military District (YuVO).

Earlier, the commander of the Southern Military District, General of the Army Alexander Dvornikov, approved ten locations for solemn ceremonies and eighteen locations for the subsequent placement and storage of panels.

So in the Rostov region, historical relics were transferred to the people’s military-historical complex “Sambek Heights”, as well as the Main Church of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. The places of the new museum exhibits were occupied by the battle banners of the 103rd Guards Rifle Nizhnednistrovsky Regiment and the 15th Antiaircraft Artillery Order of the Red Star of the Simferopol Division.

The banners of the 184th rifle Dukhovshchinskaya Red Banner division, the 164th tank brigade, 1047 and 1026 rifle regiments were transferred to the museums of the Volgograd region. Military relics were placed in the panoramic museum “Battle of Stalingrad” and in the Kalachev branch of the “Volgograd Regional Museum of Local Lore”.

Also, at the sites of the VTF YuVO, ceremonies for the transfer of battle flags were held in the capital of Adygea, Maikop, for the national museum of the republic, and in the Patriot park of the city of Stavropol for the state historical and cultural nature-landscape museum-reserve im. G. N. Prozriteleva and G. K. Prave.

The banners handed over at the Forum in Vladikavkaz are exhibited for inspection in the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and in the National Museum of North Ossetia-Alania.

Also, historical military relics were transferred to the museums of military glory in Astrakhan and Makhachkala, to the State Krasnodar Museum of Local Lore, to the Memorial Complex of Glory to them. A. A. Kadyrov in Grozny.

For the transfer of twelve battle flags to the Crimea and Sevastopol, a solemn ceremony was held at the site of the Sevastopol memorial complex “Sapun-Gora”. For the placement of historical relics, storage sites have been determined in the Sevastopol Cathedral of the Museum of Defense, the Kerch Museum of the History of Defense of the Adzhimushkai Quarries, the Feodosia Museum of Local Lore of Antiquities and in Simferopol in the Crimean Museum of History and Local Lore.

“I am sure that the relics of the legendary divisions and regiments will take a worthy place in historical museums and will contribute to preserving the memory and perpetuating the feat of the Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War for many years,” General of the Army A. Dvornikov, commander of the Southern Military District, noted.

In July of this year. as part of a working trip to the troops of the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don, when visiting the memorial complex “Sambek Heights”, the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, instructed to replace the copies of the military banners of the Red Army units that were liberating Rostov area from the Nazis, originals.
