Workers lifted 32 tons of garbage from the bottom of the river. He will be sent for recycling.

Works on cleaning and deepening of water areas of more than 30 passenger berths took place in Moscow. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Housing and Communal Services and Improvement Peter Biryukov

City services have cleared the bottom at the berths Zaryadye, Patriarshy, Novospassky Most, Simonovskaya Embankment, Bolshoy Kamenny Most, Bolshoy Ustinsky Most, Andreevsky, Kolomenskoye, Krymsky Most, Central Park and Frunzenskaya Embankment.

“Specialists of the municipal economy complex carried out hydraulic works to clean 26 berths and deepen the water areas of five more. In the near future, dredging will begin at the last berth – Tretyakovsky, ”said Pyotr Biryukov.

According to him, the work is necessary due to the pollution of the river bottom with large debris and scrap metal, which can damage motor ships. Before the start of cleaning, the divers examined the bottom of the river.

“The work was carried out from a barge equipped with a crane for removing large household waste. A vessel equipped with a special bucket for lifting soil and silt sediments on board is involved in more complex measures to deepen the bottom, – said Pyotr Biryukov. “In total, we raised 32 tons of household waste, it will be disposed of.”

He added that the first work on cleaning and deepening the bottom was carried out last year during the reconstruction of the berths of the Northern River Station. Then updated 17 berths for the mooring of the cruise fleet and for the anchorage of pleasure boats. Today, the renovated berths can accommodate 34 vessels at the same time. After large-scale renovation The Northern River Station has again become a transport facility, and the park and the embankment have become places for walks and recreation for Muscovites.
