Cadets and officers of the Naval Polytechnic Institute of the Military Educational and Scientific Center of the Navy “Naval Academy” as part of a set of events timed to celebrate the 800th anniversary of St. Alexander Nevsky, took part in the laying of the “Alexander” Syringarium (lilac garden) in the skete in the name of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker of the Alexander Nevsky Lavra in the Kingisepp district of the Leningrad region.

The servicemen, together with the parishioners, representatives of the state authorities of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, planted lilac bushes.

It is deeply symbolic that it was the future and current officers of the Naval Academy who had the honor to plant the seedlings of the Admiral Kuznetsov variety.

As part of the solemn ceremony, a prayer service was held, the consecration of mosaic icons of the patron saints of the army and the navy: the faithful prince Alexander Nevsky and the righteous warrior Feodor Ushakov for the future chapel of the Resurrection of Christ, the laying of a chapel and a memorial sign in honor of the 800th anniversary of the holy prince, whose name is inextricably linked with St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region. After all, it was here that the holy prince, who is now the heavenly patron of the city on the Neva, won his most significant victories, determining for many times the historical path and civilizational choice of Russia.
