Since the beginning of the year, Moscow veterinarians have chipped more than four thousand pets.

On September 1, an action on chipping of pets will begin in the state veterinary clinics of the capital. Within a month, the cost of this service will be 706 rubles, including the microchip. This was reported in the press service of the Moscow Veterinary Committee.

The presence of an electronic microchip increases the chances of finding a pet if it is lost. In addition, chipping is one way to identify a pet. In Russia, dogs and cats are among the animals for which the identification procedure is mandatory.

Since the beginning of this year, Moscow veterinarians have chipped more than four thousand pets, which is 30 percent more than in the same period last year. For the whole of 2020, Moscow veterinarians installed 5,800 chips.

The chip installation procedure itself is completely painless and safe for the animal. It also takes a few minutes. A capsule containing a personal 15-digit number is inserted under the skin at the withers using a disposable applicator. After that, information about the chip number is entered into the veterinary automated system, where a common database is formed. If a lost animal ends up in a shelter or clinic, experts read its chip with a scanner and request contact information about its owner from the database. The microchip allows you to find a lost animal even outside Russia.

It is possible to chip an animal in Moscow in all 26 state veterinary clinics.

You can make an appointment with a veterinarian for consultation and provision of services online on the portal, in the Moscow State Services mobile application, or by phone: +7 (495) 612-04-25.
