For the second time this season, the strongest representatives of the country’s maritime all-around gathered on the hospitable land of Saratov to compete for awards at the All-Russian competition in the yalah-6 sailing race.

The Russian maritime pentathlon championship and championship were held here under the auspices of the regional branch of DOSAAF at the end of June. And recently, on the basis of the water sports club “Sokol” on the Green Island, one more competition has come to the end.

The competitions were jointly organized by the Physical Culture and Sports Department of Saratov, the regional branch of DOSAAF and the Regional Federation of Maritime All-Around and Ship Modeling Sports with the direct active participation of the chairman of the Federation of Master of Sports Viktor Kuznetsov – the head of the second Saratov United Technical School of DOSAAF. At the opening of the competition, the chairman of the regional branch of DOSAAF Sergei Shchukin wished the athletes of the competition an honest and uncompromising struggle for victory.

Teams from seven regions applied for it: Saratov, Samara, Lipetsk, Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk, Penza regions and St. Petersburg.

The strongest of them was the team from the Northern capital. Three teams – Samara, Saratov and Yaroslavl regions – scored the same number of points. But in terms of additional indicators, the second place was taken by the residents of Samara, the third – by the Yaroslavl residents.

These starts were dedicated to the memory of one of the best maritime all-around athletes of the USSR and Russia – a high-class athlete and coach Mikhail Vasilyevich Firsov, an excellent student of physical culture and sports, a master of sports of the USSR and an international master of sports, who made a huge contribution to the development of maritime all-around. Since 2019, the competition has been played with a silver-plated 8-kilogram Challenge Cup named after M.V. Firsov, which is permanently stored in Saratov.
