The VBD Voenkor project is a nationwide database of participants in the Great Patriotic War and Soviet-Japanese wars based on materials from periodicals of 1941-1945. It was created in May 2020 on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. Its main goal is to bring together information about front-line soldiers and home front workers, partisans, militia fighters, young anti-fascist heroes, who are mentioned on the pages of newspapers and magazines published in the Soviet Union during the war years.

The Military University became the first university of the Russian Ministry of Defense to take part in filling the database. He presented his results at the International Military-Technical Forum “ARMY-2021”, where the guests of the exposition had the opportunity to find information about their loved ones in the digitized funds of the newspaper “Krasnaya Zvezda”. One of the visitors was the Commander of the Airborne Forces, Colonel-General Andrei Serdyukov, who got acquainted with the publications of the war years about the heroes of the paratroopers.

To date, the initiative group of the Military University has already added more than 40,000 personalities to the database of the public project.
