As part of the international competition “Elbrus Ring”, the military personnel of the high-altitude units carried out a landing and made a march in the area of ​​Mount Elbrus in Kabardino-Balkaria.

In the course of performing a special mission, the servicemen made a landing from an army aviation helicopter of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District. The Mi-8 helicopters performed about 15 sorties with an airborne assault landing at an altitude of about 3.5 thousand meters.

The entire unit landed from an Mi-8 helicopter and entered the designated assembly point, located at a distance of up to 500 m from the landing site.

After that, the groups made a march in high mountains, overcoming various forms of mountain relief (rocky, ice, snow, talus), worked out orienteering in high mountains.

In total, more than 90 people were involved in the competition, from the composition of the units involved in performing tasks in the highlands.

For reference: teams from Russia, China, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Abkhazia, South Ossetia, Uzbekistan and India are taking part in the competition. The servicemen of Armenia and South Ossetia will perform only some of the special tasks of the competition, outside the category.

The organizer of the Elbrus Ring competition is the Physical Training and Sports Department of the RF Armed Forces. These competitions have a military-applied focus and have been held on an international scale since 2016.
