Servicemen of the mountain motorized rifle unit of the Central Military District (CVD), stationed in the Republic of Tuva, arrived at the Edelweiss training ground in the Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic to prepare and participate in a joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces of the Central Asian region of collective security of the CSTO, which will be held from September 7-9. The exercise will be attended by military contingents from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.

To participate in the exercise, the military personnel of the Central Military District made a combined march from the point of permanent deployment in Kyzyl to the loading station in Abakan. Then, having reloaded military equipment onto railway platforms, the Russian contingent traveled more than 3 thousand kilometers to the unloading station in Kyrgyzstan.

During the Frontier-2021 exercise, servicemen from Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan will work out the issues of conducting a joint special operation to block and destroy combat groups and detachments of illegal armed formations in mountainous areas.

In total, over 200 servicemen and more than 60 units of military equipment, including aviation, will be involved in the joint exercises from the Russian side.
