Order of August 28, 2021 No. 2388-r

More than 2.5 billion rubles will be spent on completing the construction of the General Chernyakhovsky road-rail ferry, which will stand on the Ust-Luga – Baltiysk line. This order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Now the technical readiness of the ferry is almost 67%. In May 2021, it was already launched. Commissioning is scheduled for February 2022. The allocated funding will be used to paint the vessel, install its mechanisms, equipment and pipeline systems.

The ferry will transport trains, cars and various cargoes across the Baltic Sea between the Leningrad and Kaliningrad regions. Its length is 200 m. The vessel will use two types of fuel – diesel with a low sulfur content and liquefied natural gas. This will reduce exhaust emissions into the environment.

The construction of the ferry is envisaged in the federal target program for the development of the Kaliningrad region, as well as in terms of ensuring the transport accessibility of the region. In past years, more than 2.5 billion rubles were allocated for its construction. Thus, the total amount of federal funding will be 5.1 billion rubles.
