Teenagers suffering from oncological diseases will be able to continue treatment in specialized children’s hospitals even after they turn 18. This will allow not to interrupt therapy, not to waste time looking for a new clinic and paperwork. Such changes have been made to the program of state guarantees for the provision of free medical care to citizens and approved by a government decree.

According to the previous rules, patients who are being treated in children’s oncological clinics, on the day of coming of age, must go to an adult hospital, regardless of the condition, stage of therapy and the specifics of the disease itself. All this takes a lot of time, which means it causes a break in treatment and poses a threat to the patient’s health.

Now, children’s medical institutions providing care in the Oncology profile will be able to continue treating their patients until they turn 21.
