The program included more than 350 events in cinemas, cultural centers, libraries, parks, theaters and museums.

On August 28, a campaign was held in the capital for the sixth time “Movie night”… More than 350 events were held in cinemas, cultural centers, libraries, parks, theaters and museums. The program included outstanding examples of foreign and domestic cinema, among them – winners of European festivals, ageless Soviet classics, films – leaders of domestic distribution, popular Russian TV series and selections of short films.

“Cinema Night” has become one of the brightest cultural events in Moscow. Subject to all safety precautions, the movie festival took place. Those who love and appreciate cinema have been waiting for him very much. It’s nice that the campaign that we came up with in 2015 has its own loyal audience. Her activity creates that wonderful holiday atmosphere that engulfs everyone at the Cinema Night venues. On Saturday, about 350 events took place at more than 120 venues – in cinemas, cultural centers, libraries, parks, theaters and museums. Our guests saw many films – from classics to premieres. Everyone had the opportunity to find what they liked. Moscow is not only the leader in film distribution, but also the center of domestic film production. The city is doing a lot for its development in cooperation with film studios, renowned filmmakers, young filmmakers, who will have to create a film chronicle of the capital in the near future. On the Day of Russian Cinema, at the meeting of the Mayor of Moscow with teachers and students of Moscow film schools, many important topics were discussed, including additional measures to support young directors who make films about our beloved city, ”said the Minister of the Moscow Government, the head of the city

Department of Culture Alexander Kibovsky

Film concert and circus show

The Cinema Night opened with the Power of Cinema concert at the renovated Khudozhestvenny cinema. Songs from Russian films were performed, accompanied by the musical group of Pyotr Nalich. The concert was also attended by theater and film actors Katerina Shpitsa, Dmitry Dyuzhev, Miriam Sekhon, Anatoly Kot and Alisa Grebenshchikova.

In the cinema “Kosmos” of the “Moschino” network, the comedy of Grigory Alexandrov “Circus”, which celebrated its 85th anniversary this year, was shown from 35-millimeter film. Before the show, the audience saw a special circus program: gymnasts, equilibrists, eccentrics and magicians recreated the best performances of the picture. In addition, the brightest songs from the film were performed live to the accompaniment of a grand piano.

A series marathon was held in the Zvezda cinema of the Moschino chain. The audience saw not only the hits of Russian TV channels and online platforms, but also the premieres. The cinema was a COVID-free zone – viewers could enter the hall only if they had QR codes that were scanned at the entrance.

In addition, the Moschino chain has prepared several special events in iconic places of the city. On the observation deck of the main entrance of Gorky Park, visitors saw the film “Hipsters” by Valery Todorovsky, at the Danilovsky market they watched Eldar Ryazanov’s comedy “Give a Complainant Book”, and on the observation deck of the Northern River Station – “Volga-Volga” by Grigory Alexandrov. A documentary film dedicated to the centenary of the first show of the Lumière brothers was shown in the pavilion of the WDC.

In addition, the Ministry of Culture of Russia and the Cinema Fund traditionally presented the most popular domestic films of this year (The Little Humpbacked Horse by Oleg Pogodin, The Palm by Alexander Domogarov Jr. and Fire by Alexei Nuzhny).

The annual citywide action “Movie Night” has been held since 2016, organized by a network of cinemas “Moschino” and urban Department of Culture

Cinema Night has become a bright film event this summer. Film screenings were held in compliance with safety rules: the breaks between the sessions were increased, administrators and volunteers worked in masks and gloves, and a safe seating was organized in the halls taking into account social distance.

“Moschino” annually holds hundreds of retrospectives, auteur cinema festivals, film clubs, premieres and meetings with directors. The network includes 13 cinemas, and the Moschino Cinematheque stores about nine thousand film copies of Soviet classics.
