Pet owners can be sure that their pets will receive highly qualified assistance in any of the state clinics in Moscow. Every year more than 500 employees of the capital’s veterinary service undergo advanced training courses. This helps professionals to improve their knowledge and provide services in accordance with high standards. The training takes place at the training center of the Veterinary Committee.

In addition, new laboratory diagnostic and medical equipment helps to improve the quality of the provision of veterinary services in the city. Over the past three years, more than 480 pieces of equipment have been purchased for state clinics. For example, veterinarians are assisted in their work by modern digital X-rays, tomographs, ultrasound machines and equipment for inhalation anesthesia.

There are also 11 special vehicles operating in Moscow. They are used to provide emergency home care, as well as for home care for animals belonging to privileged categories of citizens. During the check-out, specialists are ready to provide pets with all the necessary medical and diagnostic assistance. Cars are equipped with modern equipment. Over the past year, the number of home calls has increased by 17 percent.

One of the priority tasks of the city’s veterinary service is the prevention of contagious animal diseases, including those dangerous to humans. These diseases include rabies. The surest way to prevent the onset and spread of this disease is to vaccinate pets. The procedure in the capital is free of charge. Rabies vaccinations can be given at animal vaccination centers. In addition, for the convenience of Muscovites, temporary vaccination points are annually organized within walking distance, including at walking areas. Over the past year, their number has more than doubled. Since the beginning of the year, the capital’s veterinarians have vaccinated more than 100 thousand animals against rabies.

New services were launched last year for the convenience of pet owners. So, there was information about routine vaccination. Veterinary experts also work in the capital’s veterinary service. They test vegetables, fruits, berries, meat and fish in markets, weekend fairs and food storage and processing businesses. Veterinary experts are responsible for ensuring that only safe products reach the counters of the city. Over the past year, the capital’s experts have carried out more than 1.5 million examinations of vegetables and fruits, as well as more than 125 thousand examinations of meat at markets and fairs. Thanks to this, more than 18 tons of unsafe fruits and vegetables and more than three tons of meat were not on sale.
