In Vladivostok, within the framework of the VI Eastern Economic Forum, an Agreement of Intent was signed between the Russian Emergencies Ministry and the Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant for the manufacture and supply of 4 Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopters.

The signing ceremony was attended by the Deputy Head of the EMERCOM of Russia Viktor Yatsutsenko and the Managing Director of the Joint Stock Company Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant Alexei Kozlov and the Head of the Republic of Buryatia Alexey Tsydenov.

“This agreement is important for the development of the security system in the Arctic zone. Such helicopters are indispensable for extinguishing wildfires, they can perform sanitary evacuation and deliver rescuers to hard-to-reach areas. They are designed to operate in northern latitudes, which are characterized by low temperatures and high wind loads. The new helicopters will enter service with the emerging Arctic units of the Russian Emergencies Ministry to protect the population and territories of the Arctic region of the Russian Federation and ensure the safety of the Northern Sea Route, ”noted V. Yatsutsenko.

The Mi-8AMTSh-VA helicopter was designed specifically for operation in the northern regions of the country. The aircraft is capable of flying long distances in the polar night conditions, which is important for the regions of the Arctic and the Far North.
