A single pedestrian zone will stretch from the Verkhniye Likhobory metro station to the Angarskie Prudy park.
In the north of Moscow, the improvement of Beskudnikovsky Boulevard continues under the “From home to home” program. The work is carried out on an area of 25 hectares. They are scheduled to be completed by September 15th.
Changing the geometry of the street, as well as arranging parking lots and relocating crossings are needed to ensure the safety and convenience of all road users – both pedestrians and drivers.
“The width of the traffic lanes is reduced to the standard. If wide lanes provoke the driver to exceed the speed limit, then narrowing them allows you to streamline the movement in the stream. In addition, it is also an opportunity to expand the pedestrian space, as well as increase the parking area. After the improvement, parking spaces on Beskudnikovsky Boulevard will be placed in special pockets, “said the deputy head
In order for drivers and pedestrians to see each other better, a zone where parking is prohibited will be organized five meters before the pedestrian crossing. For this, the sidewalks are widened. The carriageway will be divided into parking and traffic zones.
“A full range of road repair works is being carried out on Beskudnikovsky Boulevard. These are milling and laying of asphalt concrete pavement on the roadway and sidewalks with an area of more than 120 thousand square meters, installing a curb stone over 24 thousand meters long, arranging more than 25 thousand square meters of lawn. To exclude flooding, a storm sewer device is performed. For the comfort and safety of citizens, 60 new lanterns with energy-saving lamps will be installed, ”added Anton Akulov.
For public transport passengers, 20 modern stopping pavilions with wireless communication and special connectors for charging gadgets will be installed. There will also be 11 new traffic lights. In the course of the work, 464 parking spaces will be created, including 52 for disabled people.
A single comfortable pedestrian zone will stretch across the entire district from the Verkhniye Likhobory metro station to the Angarskie Prudy park.
