The specialists of the municipal services complex have completed the cleaning of the Kozhukhovsky pond in the Danilovsky district. About 30 thousand cubic meters of silt sediments were taken from a reservoir with an area of ​​6.4 hectares.

“Thanks to the cleaning carried out, the Kozhukhovsky pond, which performs the technical functions of a regulating pond, will maintain a high flow rate. Since 2013, the reservoir has become the center of a landscaped recreational area with walking paths and recreational areas for local residents. Cleaning will help eliminate water bloom and unpleasant odors in the coastal recreation area, ”said Vladimir Yavorsky, Deputy General Director of the Mosvodostok State Unitary Enterprise.

Work began in October last year. Due to the large area of ​​the reservoir, the extraction of silt deposits was carried out without draining the water. For this, a technological dam was built on the pond, which made it possible to pump water in stages to a site free from work.

Kozhukhovsky pond appeared 60 years ago on the site of the historical channel of the Moscow River. In the 1960s, it was decided to dig a new three-kilometer channel, which is now known as the Nagatinskoe straightening. This was done in order to optimize river shipping to serve the Southern Cargo Port.

The old channel was partially filled up, and the remaining sections formed two backwaters and the Kozhukhovsky pond. The reservoir received its name from the village of Kozhukhovo, which was located on the northern bank of one of the backwaters and on the site of Kozhukhovskiye streets.

During the work of the plant named after I.A. Likhachev Kozhukhovsky pond received waste warm water from the CHPP, which provided heat to the entire enterprise. Because of this, the reservoir did not freeze even in the most severe frosts.

Today the Kozhukhovsky pond is filled with surface waters from the Danilovsky district. This helps to regulate the load on the drainage network during rains and floods. In winter, the Mosvodostok snow-melting station works by the reservoir. Here, due to warm water from the CHPP, snow melts, and the resulting water, after cleaning, enters the pond.
