It was found by members of the Zvezda search group of the regional branch of the DOSAAF of the Kaluga region during an expedition to the Iznoskovsky district. Further research work with the documents of the Central Archives of the Ministry of Defense of Russia made it possible to find out that the award belonged to the Red Army soldier P.I. Zhuravlev, who went missing in October 1941 during the hostilities in the Iznoskovsky district.

In mid-August, at the closing of the “Watch of Memory-2021” in the Kaluga region, representatives of the DOSAAF of the Saratov region received the order for transfer to the relatives of the hero of the war.

At a solemn event dedicated to the 48th anniversary of the Aleksandrovo-Gaysky district, in the presence of hundreds of residents and guests, Sergei Shchukin and Oleg Afonin handed the order to the direct descendants of the hero – granddaughter Maria Ermukanova and great-granddaughter Irina Bugetaeva.

In his speech, Sergei Shchukin, in particular, noted that DOSAAF is actively working in the country’s search movement and expressed confidence that the military order will take a worthy place in the local history museum in the hero’s homeland and will serve as a vivid example of courage and courage, as well as form young people have a sense of patriotism and readiness to defend the Fatherland.
