This fall, the theater will present four premieres, with three more scheduled for 2022.

September 3 at the Theater. A.S. Pushkin, the traditional gathering of the troupe took place. Artistic director Yevgeny Pisarev spoke about plans for the 72nd season and introduced new artists. Since this year, Anton Grashchenkov, Valeria Elkina, Danila Kazakov, Elizaveta Kononova and Nikita Pirozhkov have been working at the theater. All five are graduates of Pisarev’s course at the Moscow Art Theater School.

For the first month of autumn, the theater has planned three premieres at once. The first is scheduled for September 6 – director Dmitry Krymov will present his reading of Anton Chekhov’s The Seagull. The play is called Kostik and tells about what is happening at the dacha of actress Irina Arkadina from the point of view of her son Konstantin Treplev, a young playwright living in the shadow of a famous mother. The role of Arkadina is played by Victoria Isakova, Kostik – by Alexander Dmitriev.

The next premiere will take place on September 11th. The psychological thriller Switzerland based on the play by Joanna Murray-Smith was directed by Tatiana Tarasova. The main character of the play is Patricia Highsmith, a famous writer, author of the story “The Talented Mr. Ripley” (in the play she is played by Vera Voronkova). Highsmith retires in the Swiss Alps, but on vacation she is overtaken by Edward (Fyodor Levin), an agent of a New York publishing house, which wants to receive from her a sequel to the bestseller. As she communicates with the young man, the writer begins to understand that her guest is not at all as simple as it seems. The play will be performed at the theater’s branch in Sytinsky Lane.

The production of “Mashalava” based on the play by the young playwright Maria Kontorovich will also be presented there. The director was Vladimir Kimmelman. The main character is a modern girl Masha, who does not understand where life is leading her.

In November, the branch of the theater is planning to show the premiere of the play “Guardians of the Taj Mahal” by Alexei Zolotovitsky based on the play by Rajiv Joseph. A staging of Madame Rubinstein, a play by contemporary Australian writer John Misto, is scheduled for February. Vera Alentova will play the main character, the founder of the cosmetic empire of her name, Helena Rubinstein. The premiere will be timed to coincide with the anniversary of the actress.

In April it will be possible to see “The Servant of Two Masters” based on the work of Carlo Goldoni. Yuri Muravitsky will take on a comedy about the adventures of the merry rogue Truffaldino from Bergamo.

In the new season, the director’s laboratory will be organized again. This time, the participants will present readings of plays staged in the 1910s-1940s on the stage of the Alexander Tairov’s Chamber Theater. The Pushkin Theater is linked with the latter by a relationship of succession – in the first half of the last century, the Kamenny Theater was located in a mansion on Tverskoy Boulevard. Since 1950, this building has been the home of the Pushkin Theater.
