Immediately before the lesson, students became participants in the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the Sevastopol branch of the federal state budgetary educational institution of higher education “Russian University of Economics named after G.V. Plekhanov ”and the Maritime Library named after Admiral M.P. Lazarev of the Sevastopol House of Officers of the Black Sea Fleet, which was signed by the heads of the institutions: the director of the branch, Doctor of Medical Sciences Igor Shevchuk and the head of the library Nikolai Krasnolitsky.

The Marine Library and the Sevastopol Branch of the PRUE G.V. Plekhanov has longstanding friendly relations. Students of the branch are registered and are active users of online library resources, have the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of Sevastopol and the Black Sea Fleet with the help of “live” excursions, with rarities of the world and domestic level, with military, naval, historical and cultural, fiction literature of the XVIII – beginning XX century from the rare fund of the library – the Rare fund. The signing of the cooperation agreement became a continuation of the partnership between the educational institution and the library.

For reference: Sevastopol Maritime Library named after Admiral M.P. Lazareva is a unique repository of historical and modern books and documents; more than 300,000 publications are stored in its funds.

The Maritime Library was founded in Sevastopol in 1822 on the initiative and at the expense of the officers of the Black Sea Fleet and became the first cultural and educational institution in the city. The library has the rarest literary editions of the 17th-19th centuries. In 2022, the library will celebrate its 200th anniversary.
