In the Patriot Park near Moscow, at the closing of the International Army Games in 2021, a separate guards salute division named after V.I. Marshal of Artillery Vladimir Mikhalkin of the Western Military District (ZVO) made a festive fireworks display.

More than 30 types of fireworks were launched into the sky of the Moscow region. Among them: Svetlana, Slava, Rubin, Assol, Vega and Violet. The domes of the ruptures exceeded 300 meters in diameter. The fireworks were launched from self-propelled combined launchers of caliber from 105 to 310 mm based on a KamAZ vehicle.

During the solemn military ritual, the evening sky of the Moscow Region was decorated with about 2.5 thousand fireworks shots from 10 fireworks installations for five and a half minutes. At the end of the fireworks at the 5th minute, with the help of a special launching complex “Tricolor” 2A96, fireworks illuminated the night sky with the colors of the State flag of the Russian Federation.

The ZVO salute division deployed in Moscow is the only unit of the Russian Armed Forces that produces artillery salutes on the Days of Military Glory, at military parades and at the inauguration of the President of the Russian Federation.
