The water level will be maintained by underground sources, flood and atmospheric precipitation.

In the Eastern Administrative District of the capital, the final stage of the improvement of the Golyanovsky pond has been completed. Specialists of the Moscow city economy complex filled the reservoir up to 147.8 meters (above sea level). The total area of the pond is 8.6 hectares.

Earlier, Mosvodostok specialists repaired the 1363-meter coastal strip, cleared the surface of the reservoir from vegetation. All work was completed in less than five months.

The reconstruction of the pond was needed for several reasons. The concreted banks, erected back in the 1980s, were damaged by erosion, and tree roots grew in them. In several places, before the reinforcement, the concrete of the bank protection was exposed, the divergence of the concrete blocks was partially destroyed.

“The main task of the work on the Golyanovsky pond was to put in order the coastal strip. For its implementation, the Mosvodostok services restored the destroyed areas with a repair compound, repaired the seams between the existing wall blocks, increased the water tightness and frost resistance of the entire structure of the shore and the facade of the pond boat station by the method of gunning – layer-by-layer application of mortar under pressure followed by coating with a waterproofing compound, ”said the Deputy Director state unitary enterprise “Mosvodostok” Vladimir Yavorsky.

At the final stage, specialists removed bulky waste and filled the pond with tap water. In the future, the water level will be maintained naturally due to underground sources, flood and atmospheric precipitation.

Golyanovskiy pond is an artificial reservoir created on the site of the swampy floodplain of the Sosenka River. In the 1980s, the river was removed into an underground sewer, and its bed was filled up. On the site of the swamp, a reservoir with concrete banks was created, then the largest park in the area of Golyanovo was laid out around it.

The pond has a rectangular shape, 545 meters long and 142 meters wide. It is popular with local residents; in front of the reservoir there is a platform where regional holidays are held.
