The crews of a detachment of ships and vessels of the Northern Fleet in the Barents Sea took part in an exercise to ensure the safety of objects of economic activity of the Russian Federation and to resolve crisis situations if they arise. The combat training event took place in the area of the Prirazlomnaya frost-resistant ice stationary platform in the Barents Sea.

According to the plan of the exercise, the large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk”, leading the detachment, received information from the operational service of the Northern Fleet about the actions of an unknown intruder vessel performing dangerous maneuvers near an offshore ice stationary platform.

From the moment the platform security zone was violated by the intruder, the crew of the large anti-submarine ship “Severomorsk”, demonstrating the ship’s artillery weapons, forced it to stop and drift. The rescue-tugboat “Pamir” was the violator’s vessel.

Some of the mock terrorists were able to penetrate the Prirazlomnaya sea ice stationary platform and seized it.

A Ka-27 helicopter carrying an anti-terror group from a separate marine brigade of the Northern Fleet was lifted from the large anti-submarine ship Severomorsk. Having landed on the platform, the Marines eliminated the intruders, some of whom were detained. The personnel of the Marine Corps of the Northern Fleet got acquainted with the device of the platform and gained experience of operating on the platform itself, having completed all the assigned tasks.

The uniqueness of this exercise lies in the fact that the forces and troops of the Arctic group of the Northern Fleet operated for the first time on the most frost-resistant ice stationary platform Prirazlomnaya, earlier this exercise was conducted only in its area.
