BCL will unload the existing radial metro lines, and will also allow the development of new directions.
In 2022, Moscow plans to complete the construction of the Big Circle Line (BCL) metro. About it Sergei Sobyanin told on the air of the TV Center TV channel. He noted that BCL is a key element of the city’s transport infrastructure.
“As for the BCL – the big ring, the circular metro line, it is the core of many projects and, of course, the core of the metro. This largest ring is also being built quite actively, a third of it is already ready. This year, another third will be built, that is, two-thirds of the large ring will be launched. The remaining third is due next year, ”Sergei Sobyanin said.
The construction of the Big Circle Line is the largest metro construction project. The new ring will be 70 kilometers long and will have 31 stations and three depots. It will connect existing and prospective radial lines up to 10 kilometers from the Circle Line. From the BCL stations, it will be possible to transfer to 20 stations of other metro lines. In addition, there will be transfers to the Moscow Central Circle, the first and second Moscow Central Diameters and other railway lines.
“The Big Ring is the largest project in the world, larger than the Beijing Ring. And of course, it is of great importance for the life of the city, ”the Moscow Mayor said.
12 stations of the Big Circle Line are already open to passengers. There are plans to open 10 more stations this year.
