Joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the Central Asian region of collective security of the CSTO “Rubezh-2021” started at the Edelweiss training ground in Kyrgyzstan.

The exercises are attended by servicemen of the armed forces of Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, as well as operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat.

The basis of the Russian military contingent in the exercise are servicemen of the Tuvan mountain motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District, as well as the personnel of the united Russian military base stationed in Kyrgyzstan. In total, about 500 servicemen and more than 120 units of weapons and military equipment, including 6 units of aviation equipment, take part from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters of the joint Russian military base Kant will provide support to ground units and conduct aerial reconnaissance in the area of ​​the exercise.

The main objectives of the exercise are to improve the practical skills of officials of command and control bodies in organizing combat operations and commanding subordinate troops, as well as increasing the coherence of the CRISC units in the course of a joint operation.

During the exercise, the CRSF contingents will conduct joint planning and preparation for a military operation. During the practical stage, the issues of blocking and destroying combat groups and detachments of illegal armed formations that have invaded the territory of a CSTO member state will be worked out. The exercise will end on September 9.

The collective forces of rapid deployment of the Central Asian region of collective security are designed to perform tasks to ensure the military security of the CSTO member states, including to participate in repelling external military aggression and conducting joint counter-terrorism operations.
