The combat crews of the anti-aircraft missile formation of the Central Military District (CVO) at the Kapustin Yar training ground in the Astrakhan region during the first exercise after re-equipping with new anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) “Buk-M3” performed combat missile launches with 100% accuracy.

Anti-aircraft gunners launched two types of missiles and destroyed high-speed maneuverable air attack weapons of the simulated enemy. As targets were used target missiles “Saman”, which carried out approach from various directions and heights at a speed of about 1000 km / h. The servicemen of the anti-aircraft missile formation of the Central Military District performed firing missions in conditions of intense electronic countermeasures for an excellent rating: each missile hit a target at a distance of 35 to 65 kilometers from the protected objects.

Before combat use, the crews of the anti-aircraft missile brigade made a march from the Altai Territory to the Astrakhan Region, overcoming more than 4,000 kilometers, where they took up combat duty and repelled an air raid of the “enemy”, having performed more than 100 electronic launches on digital and real targets: reconnaissance aircraft, fighters , bombers and attack helicopters of the conditional enemy.

The tactical live-fire exercise will end at the end of September. It became the first for the personnel of the anti-aircraft missile brigade of the Central Military District after rearmament with the new Buk-M3 anti-aircraft missile systems. More than 500 servicemen were involved in the exercise, over 200 pieces of equipment were involved.
