The ceremonial opening of a joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the Central Asian Collective Security Treaty Organization “Rubezh-2021” took place at the Edelweiss mountain range in Kyrgyzstan.

Traditionally, the opening ceremony of the exercise began with raising the flags of the participating countries to the national anthems performed by a military brass band. The event was attended by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the CSTO Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, Deputy Commander of the Central Military District (CVD) Lieutenant General Yevgeny Poplavsky, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic Colonel Almazbek Karasartov, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Almaz Jumake invited guests and personnel of units involved in the joint exercise.

The ceremony ended with a solemn march of the personnel of the participants in the joint exercise “Rubezh-2021”.

The joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the Central Asian region of collective security of the CSTO Rubezh-2021 is taking place from September 7 to 9 at the Edelweiss training ground in the Kyrgyz Republic. The basis of the Russian military contingent in the exercise are servicemen of the Tuvan mountain motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District, as well as the personnel of the united Russian military base Kant. In total, about 500 servicemen and almost 120 units of weapons and military equipment take part from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Air support for ground units and aerial reconnaissance in the area of ​​the exercise will be provided by Su-25 attack aircraft and Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters.
