Since September 8, an exhibition dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the heroic defense of Leningrad has been opened within the walls of the Military Historical Library.

The exhibition presents about 25 books published by the Moscow military publishing house and the Leningrad printing house in the pre-war and blockade years, as well as 28 editions describing in detail the events of those days. Among the works on this topic kept in the Military Historical Library of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, a special place is occupied by the series of books “Leningrad. War. Blockade “of the research department (military history of the North-West region of the Russian Federation) of the Research Institute (VI) of the Military Academy of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces, which is the result of a detailed study of the blockade period based on archival data.

The defense of Leningrad is one of the brightest and most tragic pages in the history of the Great Patriotic War. In the unbearable conditions of the blockade, the inhabitants of the city showed the greatest resilience and mass heroism, which became an example for contemporaries and descendants.
