We started to run trains at intervals of seven to eight minutes, then five minutes, now four minutes. And we are already thinking about launching double-decker trains at the MCC, because the existing trains cannot cope. The ring connected many districts of Moscow and relieved stress from the radial and head sections of the metro and suburban railways, ”said the Moscow Mayor.

Redistribution of passenger flows is expected after the launch of traffic on the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro, complete construction which is planned in 2022. In the future, 700-800 thousand passengers will use the ring daily. Nowadays many people have to go to the city center in order to transfer to the neighboring radial lines of the metropolitan subway.

12 stations of the Big Circle Metro Line are already available for passengers. 10 more stations are planned to open this year. The total length of the entire ring will be 70 kilometers, with a total of 31 stations and three electric depots. Passengers will have access to transfers at 20 stations of other metro lines, as well as at the MCC, MCD and other railway lines.

Another major project is the Moscow Central Diameters (MCD). The first two have already been launched and are popular with passengers. Now they are building and designing MCD-3 “Leningradsko-Kazansky” (from Zelenograd to Ramenskoye), MCD-4 “Kievsko-Gorkovsky” (from Aprelevka to Zheleznodorozhny) and MCD-5 “Yaroslavsko-Paveletsky” (from Pushkin to Domodedov). The third and fourth diameters are planned to be launched in 2023-2024.

“MCD-3 is a very complex project. It became even more complicated when the decision was made to build a high-speed highway (HSR) Moscow – St. Petersburg. MCD-3 runs from Zelenograd – this is the Leningrad branch. We must synchronize the construction of the high-speed rail line and the third diameter, because it is impossible to build them separately. Otherwise, everything will have to be rebuilt later, ”the Moscow Mayor said.

The launch of the movement will allow residents of the Moscow region to quickly get to the capital at a convenient rate. Transfers to other public transport will also be available. It will become freer both at the existing metro stations and on the highways that lead to Moscow.

Eco-friendly and comfortable

Until recently, Muscovites were surprised by electric buses, but now thousands of passengers use this transport every day. Through the streets of the city runs there are already 700 electric buses that serve 56 routes. Cars are also assembled in Moscow on the basis of the Sokolnichesky Carriage Works.

“We are actively approaching a thousand electric buses. They have gone through more than one winter and have shown themselves well. Each year, the efficiency of the batteries increases, the operating time increases, and the cost price decreases. We see that this is a promising story. We stopped buying diesel buses. Now we buy only electric buses. Moscow is one of the first cities in the world that made this decision in order to set an example for commercial transport, and generally improve the environment, and create an ecological direction in transport in the city and in the country, “said Sergei Sobyanin.

In addition, experiments are underway to create a bus powered by a hydrogen engine. But there is still a lot of work, according to the Mayor of Moscow, before the industrial mass design.

Also in the capital plan to organize regular passenger routes on the Moskva River in 2022. For this, routes are being developed and electric river trams are purchased.

“The Moscow River is open practically all winter. Even commercial, sightseeing river steamers run almost all year round. We buy electric water trams with good modern design. On the one hand, they have such an image tourist character. But, of course, they will help in regular passenger transportation, ”the Moscow Mayor said.

So, next year delivery of 20 river trams with a reinforced hull is expected. They will be able to ply themselves, even when there is thin ice on the river. In addition, a small icebreaker will be launched. This will allow river trams to operate all year round.
