The Deputy Prime Minister at the plenary session “Sport-2030: the path to sustainable development in new conditions” of the IX International Forum “Russia is a country of sports” presented a new movement “Futurous – Games of the Future”.
The plenary session was also attended by Presidential Aide Igor Levitin, Minister of Sports Oleg Matytsin, President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, President of the Global Association of International Sports Federations Rafael Kyully, Chairman of the Presidium of the 7th session of the International Convention against Doping in Sports Marcos Diaz, President of the International Swimming Federation Hussein Al-Musallam, President of the International Handball Federation Hassan Mustafa, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation Rene Fasel. Also in the videoconferencing mode, the President of the International Boxing Association Umar Kremlev, President of the International Judo Federation Marius Wieser, President of the United World Wrestling Nenad Lalovic, President of the International Federation of Skateboarding and Roller Sports Sabatino Araku joined the meeting.
In his speech, Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that the idea of the international movement “Futurous – Games of the Future”, which unites sports, science, education, and technology, has been discussed for many years. The Russian team has finalized this idea and is ready to offer a concept ready for practical application for discussion.
“Against the background of declining interest in traditional types of competition, new types of competition are emerging, including esports that have received official recognition in many countries. In Russia, there are already about 4 thousand athletes doing it professionally. At the same time, the number of esports fans in Russia is several times greater and amounts to 15.4 million people. That is, the traditional Olympic triad “body, will, mind” is complemented by a fourth component that has become a part of our life – technologies. Our country has always strived to develop the latest technologies and in the most active way moved the world sports forward. Therefore, Russia is presenting a new movement “Futurous – Games of the Future”. The competition will include several areas: e-sports, mobility technologies, robotics, artificial intelligence, classic sports with innovative, high-tech elements, ”said the Deputy Prime Minister.
Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the first Games will take place in 2023.
“I am sure that this movement, in terms of the degree of influence, will be able to capture the attention of the audience and participants in a short time, on a par with major international sporting events. We will be able to involve young people, overcome the inertia of its individual groups, stimulate the development of science and popularize the best digital achievements, ”said Dmitry Chernyshenko.
President of the International Swimming Federation Hussein Al-Musallam, who is also one of the leaders of the Asian Olympic Games, said in his speech: “We also understand that esports should be included in the Games program. This is planned to be done at the next competitions, which will be held in 2022 in Beijing. The format proposed by Dmitry Chernyshenko raises this sport to a fundamentally new level, and we will be happy to send our proposals to Russia in this area. “
President of the Global Association of International Sports Federations Rafael Kyully also supported Dmitry Chernyshenko’s initiative. He called it timely and responsive to the new reality.
Rene Fasel, President of the International Ice Hockey Federation, also called on to listen to the Deputy Prime Minister’s ideas: “Listen to what Dmitry Chernyshenko said. We must respond to changes, this is a new reality. “
