More than 20 aircraft and helicopters of the mixed aviation regiment from the Troops and forces in the North-East of Russia take part in tactical flight exercises (LTU) on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

During the LTU, the tasks of the combat use of MiG-31, Il-38, An-12 aircraft and Ka-27 and Ka-29 helicopters will be worked out.

At the first stage of the exercise, the MiG-31BN high-altitude fighters and the An-12 transport aircraft were relocated to the alternate airfield Coal Mines in conditions of the use of electronic suppression by a conditional enemy. Ground support units organized communication with the crews on the main and reserve frequencies and provided radio technical support for the pilots with the involvement of the calculations of the guidance points.

At the next stage of the LTU, 4 IL-38 anti-submarine aircraft as part of the detachment will search for and destroy submarines and surface ships of the imaginary enemy with bombs.

Also, during the tactical flight exercise, Ka-29 helicopters will destroy enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups and land troops at the Pushchino airfield. In turn, a pair of Ka-27PS will search for and evacuate from the water with a winch lifting onto a helicopter of a dummy imitating a person in distress.

The main goals of LTU are to improve the skills of the crews of fighter, anti-submarine and transport aircraft in conducting reconnaissance, searching for air targets, as well as surface and submarine ships. As part of the exercise, the pilots will work out flight missions in the far and near zones as part of pairs and flights using combat airborne weapons.
