Evgeny Zinichev died in the line of duty.
Sergei Sobyanin expressed his condolences to the family and friends of the Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of the Consequences of Natural Disasters Yevgeny Zinichev. He wrote about this on his page in the social network “Twitter”.
Evgeny Zinichev was born on August 18, 1966 in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg). In 1984-1986 he served in the Armed Forces of the USSR in the Northern Fleet. After the army, he worked in the state security agencies of the USSR, then in Russia, as well as in the state security agencies.
In 2013, he underwent professional retraining at the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. In 2014, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Anti-Terrorism Service of the FSB of Russia.
From June 2015 to July 2016, he held the post of head of the FSB Directorate for the Kaliningrad Region, then was appointed Acting Governor of the Kaliningrad Region. In November 2016, he became Deputy Director of the FSB of Russia.
On May 18, 2018, by the decree of the President of Russia, Evgeny Zinichev was appointed Minister of the Russian Federation for Civil Defense, Emergencies and Elimination of the Consequences of Natural Disasters.
On December 21, 2020, Yevgeny Zinichev was awarded the rank of General of the Army. He was a member of the Security Council of Russia and a member of the Maritime Collegium under the Government of Russia.
He was awarded the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, IV degree with swords, the medal of the Order of Merit to the Fatherland, II degree, and the Suvorov medal. He also had departmental awards from the Federal Security Service of Russia.
