The Russian government and the public joint stock company Gazprom are preparing to conclude an agreement of intent on the development of hydrogen energy and decarbonization of industry and transport based on natural gas. The draft document was approved by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The agreement provides for the development and implementation of a special “road map”, which will fix the target indicators for the development of the industry. It will also include an action plan until 2025 with an indication of the responsible officials and the timing of the initiatives.

The document will be drafted and approved by Gazprom. The government, in turn, will ensure its approval, as well as the formation of favorable conditions for the implementation of the initiatives presented in the roadmap.

The agreement was prepared within the framework of the Concept for the development of hydrogen energy, approved by Mikhail Mishustin in August… Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak will sign the document on behalf of the Government.

The implementation of the agreement will allow Russia to become one of the leaders in the emerging global market for hydrogen energy.
