Eight units of the newest armored vehicles KamAZ-53949 “Typhoonok” were first received by units of the combined-arms armies of the Central Military District (CVO) stationed in the Novosibirsk and Samara regions.

The armored car “Typhoonok” is designed to transport personnel and cargo, as well as to protect them from small arms and explosive devices. Inside the armored body of the combat vehicle, there are ten seats for the crew and the landing party: four seats (including the commander and the driver) are located facing forward in the direction of travel, the remaining six are located in the aft troop compartment, near the sides.

Structurally, the armored car is made on a chassis with a 4×4 wheel arrangement and is equipped with an automatic transmission. With a curb weight of almost 14 tons, the car is capable of speeds up to 100 km / h, having a cruising range of 800-850 km. The armored body of the “Typhoonenka” is able to protect the crew and troops from the armor-piercing bullets of a cartridge of 7.62 mm caliber and fragments of artillery shells.

The servicemen of the Central Military District units, which received the new equipment, began to master it, fulfilling the standards for maintenance and driving in various conditions.

The Central Military District is deployed on the territory of three federal districts and 29 constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The okrug includes a number of foreign objects: the 201st military base in Tajikistan, the united military base in Kyrgyzstan, as well as units on the territory of Kazakhstan. The headquarters is located in Yekaterinburg.
