Military topographers of the combined arms army of the Western Military District (ZVO) using three-dimensional modeling have created at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region a modern navigation system for an inter-service grouping of forces taking part in the joint strategic exercise (SSU) of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus “West-2021” …

Units of the army’s topographic service deployed in the field the latest mobile navigation and geodetic systems PNGK-1 and mobile digital topographic systems PTsTS to build new terrain models.

With the help of modern technology, military topographers of the Western Military District have created a 3D model of the terrain, on which changes in the training and combat situation are applied in real time along a front up to 20 kilometers deep.

New topographic systems are capable of storing, monitoring and issuing digital information about the terrain to consumers on various media, quickly creating and updating geographic information documents in digital and analog form.

In addition, the PCTS is capable of analyzing and assessing the terrain in topogeodetic terms, creating digital orthophotomaps, printing topographic maps, creating spatial terrain models, displaying 3D models on the screens of the operational control center of the interspecific group of forces.
