Moscow schoolchildren will learn more about the discoveries of engineers and doctors during the Great Patriotic War.

In September, the project “Study Day at the Victory Museum” starts, within which pre-professional students will be able to learn about historical events, as well as improve their knowledge of English and mathematics within the walls of the main patriotic museum of the country.

Classes will include search and research activities – the children will have to solve interdisciplinary problems with the help of the museum’s exposition. Thus, schoolchildren will visit dioramas that capture the most dramatic episodes of the Great Patriotic War, get acquainted with military leaders, whose tactical talent became one of the components of the success of the Soviet troops, and also perform tasks in the format of state final certification.

“Lessons in one of the most significant museums in the capital are a logical step in the development of the“ Study Day at the Museum ”project. Pupils of pre-professional classes will be able to study in depth the leading disciplines, gain real knowledge in the socio-cultural space of the metropolis. I am sure this will be reflected in future projects useful for the city, ”said the director of the City Methodological Center Andrey Zinin.

During the lessons at the Victory Museum, children will be able to independently find out what discoveries were made by scientists during the difficult war years, the work of how many people was behind each invention. High school students will study unique documents collected by historians and researchers of the museum, dedicated to the everyday life of engineers, doctors and ordinary soldiers, as well as learn about the course of the war from its very first days.

The children will be offered to take part in the quiz “The feat of the people”, the tasks of which take into account the specifics of pre-professional classes. For example, for those planning to get an engineering education, the main emphasis is on the exact sciences, and for future physicians – on the natural science aspect.

Lessons prepared for engineering students include advanced physics and mathematics, computer science, English, and history. And for the children from the medical classes – tasks in chemistry, biology, history and English.

Specially developed teaching materials will help teachers prepare for lessons in the museum. They contain recommendations and approximate answers to tasks. The materials are designed for schoolchildren with different levels of training.

To spend a school day at the Victory Museum, a teacher or class teacher must submit an electronic application for website project by choosing the subject of interest and a convenient time. And before going to the museum, you should familiarize yourself with the materials of the lessons, which are also published on website

The project “A Study Day at the Museum” has been implemented by the Moscow Department of Education and Science and the Moscow Department of Culture since 2017. It involves both city and federal museums. Since the last academic year, the project has also moved to the online format.
