At the Botkin Hospital, the country’s first industrial test site with the infrastructure of fifth-generation communication networks has been deployed. Breakthrough digital technologies in healthcare will be tested here.

“We are constantly introducing the most advanced solutions for the benefit of doctors and patients. Our next step is to create, on the basis of the Botkin Hospital, the first 5G testing ground in Russia for piloting innovative medical services. The advantage of 5G networks is the speed of collecting and processing large amounts of data. Together with the State Clinical Hospital named after S.P. Botkin, the most promising projects were selected, including VR simulators for training physicians, AR solutions (augmented reality) to help doctors with complex surgeries and others, they will be tested on the basis of a hospital using all the capabilities of 5G and cloud technologies, ” noted at the IV Forum of Social Innovation of the Regions

Based on the results of the experiment, it will be possible to determine scenarios for the use of 5G networks for the development of Moscow healthcare.

An agreement on cooperation in this direction within the framework of the IV Forum of Social Innovations of the Regions was concluded by the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare, the City Clinical Hospital named after S.P. Botkin, Department of Information Technology and Rostelecom.

The parties agreed to carry out applied research, testing of prototypes and prototypes of solutions, digital services and services on the basis of the test site.

The development of new generation communication networks is one of the priorities in the technological development of all smart megacities in the world. Already, within the framework of the first pilot projects, it is clear how 5G networks can help citizens. Thanks to them, it is possible to make road traffic safer, hold remote medical consultations and solve complex production problems, said the Minister of the Moscow Government, head Department of Information Technology Edward Lysenko.

“But in order for such solutions to be implemented on the scale of a 12 million megalopolis, it is imperative to make sure of their reliability, safety and efficiency. To this end, Moscow will consistently create several industrial 5G polygons: these are operating city facilities, where a 5G network will be deployed and various promising solutions will be tested, ”he added.

As a result of the project, promising scenarios for the use of 5G technology in the Moscow healthcare system will be formed.

“Together with our strategic partners, we are launching the first test environment in Moscow for the use of innovative medical solutions in the 5G network. 5G and cloud technologies will significantly improve the quality of medical services provided, ”said Vyacheslav Shulenin, General Director of the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare.

The search, selection and testing of medical services will be carried out by the Moscow Center for Innovative Technologies in Healthcare. Rostelecom will act as the operator of the 5G network: it will create the infrastructure and provide the necessary equipment, including subscriber devices, as well as develop technical solutions. Botkin Hospital will provide its own clinical infrastructure for research. The Department of Information Technologies will coordinate the work and assist all stages of piloting.

“It is necessary to create a close-knit team of representatives of telecom operators, developers of IT services and doctors: only by combining different competencies can truly useful digital services appear, which are necessary to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of medical care. 5G networks make it possible to collect and process data from a huge number of sources at a previously unattainable speed, including, for example, sensors wearable by patients or digital analyzers, ”said Boris Glazkov, Vice President for Strategic Initiatives of Rostelecom.

This data set will be analyzed using artificial intelligence technologies to help make prompt and informed medical decisions, including relying on test results and digital medical images from the database. The solutions, which will be tested at a landfill, will eventually become available in most healthcare institutions and will raise the quality standards of healthcare services throughout the country.

An example of digital services can be round-the-clock monitoring of a patient’s condition, the creation of his VR and AR models, 3D modeling of X-ray images, ultrasound and CT results, remote consultations in real time, including using VR, and training of medical personnel.

“Botkin Hospital will be the first healthcare facility to use the capabilities of 5G communication technologies. I can say for sure that the future is already coming, ”said Alexei Shabunin, the head physician of the medical facility.

New challenges of the third decade will be discussed at the IV Forum of Social Innovation of the Regions

Together with the specialists of the Department of Information Technology, the most comprehensive and effective solutions that can help doctors and patients will be tested, worked out and selected. It will be available for every doctor 3D modeling of X-ray images, innovative solutions using virtual reality (VR) and artificial intelligence for the practice of surgeons and a smart video surveillance system.

The IV Forum of Social Innovation of the Regions is taking place in Gostiny Dvor and will last until September 11. Its main theme is the challenges of the third millennium. The program is structured around eight pillars: health, education, career, longevity, high technology, happiness, social support and the future. 5G industrial landfills are urban complexes, institutions or other facilities on the territory of which a full-fledged 5G ecosystem will be deployed. Consumers and developers of digital services and services using 5G technology will be actively involved in participating in the landfills. Unlike the pilot zones, scenarios for the joint application of 5G technologies in combination with other breakthrough solutions – AR / VR, artificial intelligence, robotics and others based on the existing organizations of the city – will be tested at the test sites. Polygons allow you to create the most realistic working conditions for new digital technologies.
