The Marine Corps Training Center (structurally part of the Joint Training Center of the Russian Navy) in St. Petersburg began training marines to perform tasks
as part of anti-terror groups on board ships and vessels of the Russian Navy, performing combat missions in the distant sea and ocean zones.
More than 50 servicemen of the Northern Fleet marines arrived in St. Petersburg to undergo training under a special program, which includes the study of the device, technical means and weapons of Russian warships of all ranks and classes, which are involved in missions in various regions of the World Ocean. In accordance with the instructions of the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, the experience gained in the course of hostilities against terrorists on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic was introduced into the practice of training marines.
During the training cycle, the Marine Corps study International Maritime Law, practice practical actions on ships in conducting all types of security and defense, learn the tactics of actions as part of inspection teams and learn various methods of boarding ships when solving anti-piracy problems. As part of the training cycle, Marines undergo fire training
on firing from standard small arms at surface targets and in the limited space of internal premises (compartments, corridors, vestibules) of ships and vessels.
The marines who arrived at the Joint Training Center of the Russian Navy, in the course of systematic training, acquire practical knowledge of such a level that allows
they do not feel like newbies on the decks of ships. The training program includes the accumulated practical experience – over the years, military personnel of the Marine Corps
as part of anti-terror groups, they are on board each warship or support vessel of the Russian Navy, performing tasks at a distance from their permanent bases.
