As part of a bilateral tactical exercise in the Rostov region, communications and electronic warfare (EW) specialists of the Southern Military District (YuVO) organized protected command and control systems and provided protection against unmanned aerial vehicles.

The servicemen deployed mobile command posts, protected the radio communication channels from the influence of the drones of the imaginary enemy. Then the signalmen carried out an electronic exchange of data while organizing the continuous control of a heterogeneous grouping of troops.

In addition, the servicemen provided camouflage and equipment for the shelters of stations, command and staff vehicles, antennas and cable communication lines, taking into account the terrain conditions.

More than 200 pieces of equipment were involved in the exercise, including the Leer mobile systems based on the Tiger armored vehicles, the Zhitel automated radio jamming station and the L1 radio relay communication station based on the KamAZ armored vehicle.

In the Southern Military District, one regimental and four bilateral battalion tactical exercises are held at combined-arms training grounds located in the Stavropol Territory, in the Rostov Region, the Chechen Republic, the Volgograd Region and the Crimea. About 10 thousand servicemen take part in them, about 800 pieces of weapons and equipment are involved, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems. For the purpose of interspecific interaction, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters of army and operational-tactical aviation have been attracted from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District.
