At one of the training grounds in the eastern part of the Kaliningrad region, within the framework of the joint strategic exercise (SSU) of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus “West-2021”, motorized rifle units of the army corps of the Baltic Fleet worked out agile defense.

The servicemen, using the features of the natural landscape of the area, carried out the engineering equipment of the defensive lines and reserve firing positions.

During the main stage of the combat training event, motorized riflemen on BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicles completed training tasks for maneuvering defense with the organization of ambushes and fire counterattacks. Attached tank units took up defensive positions and engaged the superior forces of the imaginary enemy. During the training battle, the personnel retreated to pre-prepared positions, luring the mock enemy into the area where a tank ambush was organized.

Special attention was paid to the organization of a stable and continuous communication with the active use of electronic warfare by the enemy.

At the stage of firing, full-size targets imitating enemy tanks and manpower were hit with concentrated fire from 125-mm guns of T-72B3 tanks.

The planned combat training event involved about 1,000 servicemen, over 70 units of military and special equipment, including BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles, T-72B3 tanks, Akatsia and Gvozdika self-propelled artillery howitzers, Tunguska anti-aircraft artillery systems , multiple launch rocket systems “Grad” and “Uragan”, as well as other weapons.
