The troops and forces of the Northern Fleet have begun practicing practical actions in the framework of the exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group, which is being conducted under the leadership of the commander of the Northern Fleet, Admiral Alexander Moiseyev.
During the exercise, the level of preparedness of the military command and control bodies of the Northern Fleet will be assessed when planning and carrying out actions to resolve crisis situations in the Arctic Ocean region and command and control troops and forces within the framework of solving the tasks of defending the Arctic territories of Russia, ensuring military security and maritime economic activities of the Russian Federation in Arctic.
Also, during the exercise, the skills of commanders, commanders and staffs in planning the use of troops and forces and their control will be assessed, the coherence of tactical groups of ships and vessels, units of land and coastal forces in the course of performing joint combat training missions in the Arctic will be checked. Tactical techniques and methods of naval combat and combat operations in the Arctic region will be worked out.
The exercise with the Arctic expeditionary group of the Northern Fleet is held in accordance with the training plan of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation under the leadership of the commander of the Northern Fleet and is the final stage in the implementation of a set of measures for operational and combat training of forces (troops) of the Northern Fleet this year.
Practical actions of the forces (troops) of the Northern Fleet will take place at training ranges in the Murmansk region, in the waters of the Barents and Kara Seas, the Laptev Sea in the area of the New Siberian Islands, and the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
Up to 8 thousand servicemen were involved in the event, about 800 units of military and special equipment were involved, including about 40 tanks, 460 armored combat vehicles, up to 240 guns, mortars and multiple launch rocket systems, about 120 aircraft, including the number of unmanned vehicles, up to 50 ships and support vessels.
