As part of the joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus “West-2021”, field points for the repair and restoration of equipment were deployed on the territory of the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
During the exercise, the MTO units will work out the issues of technical reconnaissance, practical actions of repair and evacuation and evacuation groups, the organization of charging and maintenance of acid and alkaline batteries at deployed field points.
The forces of the repair and restoration battalion from the separate MTO brigade of the Western Military District (ZVO) will ensure the supply (if necessary) of spare parts and modules, military-technical equipment for combat vehicles, tanks and trucks.
Before the start of the active phase of the exercise, the personnel of the MTO unit will conduct practical training on the repair of weapons and military equipment in the field with the involvement of up to 20 samples of repair and evacuation equipment and recovery equipment (KET-L, BTS-4, BZEM-K, TRM), in including the use of the new MTO-UB-2 repair complex based on the Ural vehicle.
Mobile workshops, which are part of field stations for the repair and restoration of equipment, are equipped with BAKM 1040 BK crane-manipulator installations with a maximum lifting capacity of 4.95 tons and a boom reach of 4.8 meters. The machines are equipped with a welding machine, a washing unit, and a small-sized filling unit.
The joint strategic exercise (SSU) of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus is held every two years in accordance with the decision made by the heads of the two states.
Exercise “West-2021” is the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.
Practical actions of troops (forces) take place from 10 to 16 September 2021 at nine training grounds located on the territory of the Russian Federation, in the waters of the Baltic Sea, as well as at five training grounds of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus.
In total, up to 200 thousand personnel, about 80 aircraft and helicopters, up to 760 units of military equipment, including 290 tanks, 240 guns, multiple launch rocket systems, take part in the SSU “West-2021” on the territory of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and mortars, as well as up to 15 ships.
The maximum number of personnel of military units involved in training, subject to the Vienna Document 2011, on the territory of the Russian Federation does not exceed 6400 military personnel.
The return of military command and control bodies and troops to the points of permanent deployment after participation in the exercise is planned until mid-October of this year.
