The crews of the electronic warfare systems of the Western Military District remotely planted about 20 attack drones of the mock enemy during the joint strategic exercise of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus “West-2021” at the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod region.

According to the concept of the exercise, the mock enemy planned to strike from the air on military infrastructure with the help of attack unmanned aerial vehicles.

In the course of fulfilling the tasks of ensuring the protection of its troops when aiming high-precision guided missile weapons, setting up radio interference and reducing the effectiveness of reconnaissance of a simulated enemy, the issues of pairing various stations and complexes of electronic suppression and reconnaissance were worked out.

The personnel of the ZVO radar units detected targets flying at minimum and medium altitudes and transmitted data on them to the Borisoglebsk-1 and Zhitel electronic warfare systems. In turn, the electronic warfare specialists remotely brought the simulated enemy UAV out of working condition, successfully drowning the UAV control channels, as well as communication channels with GPS navigation satellites.
