Residents were congratulated by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

A solemn event dedicated to the 874th anniversary of the founding of Moscow was held at the Zaryadye Concert Hall. It was attended by the President of Russia Vladimir Putin and the Mayor of Moscow Sergei Sobyanin

“This holiday, like our beautiful capital itself, unites millions of Russian citizens – everyone who loves Moscow, honors its centuries-old history, which is inseparable from the formation and development of the Russian state,” said the President of Russia.

According to him, it is impossible not to admire the beauty and special character of the city: despite its long history, it keeps pace with the times. “Moscow is literally overwhelmed with this unique energy of movement – the energy of big, most daring goals and advanced achievements in various spheres and areas: in business, education, science, culture and sports,” said Vladimir Putin.

In the capital, large-scale infrastructure projects are being implemented in the field of transport, improvement, construction of new housing, and social facilities. “The city is changing, but it retains its uniqueness: the charm of alleys, old estates, mansions. Its unique historical, cultural, architectural heritage attracts both Muscovites and guests of the capital and, of course, requires the most careful, respectful attitude, joint work of city authorities, public organizations, volunteers, initiative citizens, caring people, “the President of Russia emphasized.

Moscow sets an example of effective work in a pandemic. Vladimir Putin thanked the residents of the city for their patience and perseverance, and the volunteers for their kindness. “Moscow was, is and will be a consolidating, uniting center for our entire vast country. And during the period of trials, and in the implementation of all our common plans, both on holidays and on weekdays – at any time, Russia and its capital are inseparable, “the President of Russia said.

In turn, Sergei Sobyanin expressed gratitude for the kind words and noted that Moscow always feels the support of the federal authorities: “This makes it possible to solve the global tasks facing Moscow, together with the federal authorities to overcome difficulties. We work as one team with the Government of Russia, the Federal Assembly, ministries and departments ”.

Sergei Sobyanin stressed that Moscow is not only a great city that plays a key role in the country’s development, but also a home for 12.5 million residents.

“For many centuries Moscow was built, developed, recreated, in fact, sometimes from the ashes, but nevertheless it won and moved forward. Today Moscow is a dynamically developing city, and I express my gratitude to everyone who takes part in its creation, Muscovites – for their hard work, talent, selfless work and love for the city, ”said the Mayor of Moscow.

He said special words of gratitude to doctors who are at the forefront of the pandemic, educators, construction workers working at a record pace, and athletes who have won more than half of the medals of the total number of awards of the Russian team at the Tokyo Olympics.

Sergei Sobyanin stressed that a strategy for the further development of the capital must be created together with its residents.

“Of course, it will be a dynamically developing city with a good economy, transport, social sphere, and most importantly, it will be a city that should give warmth and soulfulness to its residents so that we love it, and it will love us. Moscow will undoubtedly be one of the best cities on our planet, ”the Moscow Mayor said.
