The personnel of the tank battalion of a separate motorized rifle brigade of the Northern Fleet celebrated a professional holiday – Tankman’s Day at a military training ground in the Pechenga district of the Murmansk region, where servicemen take part in exercises with an Arctic expeditionary group. More than 40 “Arctic” T-80BVM tanks are involved in the exercise.

Tankers are practicing defense in the Kola operational direction in cooperation with the land and coastal forces of the fleet, as well as airborne forces.

Today, the Commander of the Northern Fleet, Hero of Russia, Admiral Alexander Moiseev, congratulated the tankmen on their professional holiday. He noted the achievements of the Arctic tankers in combat training and wished them good health and new successes in military work.

On the eve of the exercise of the forces of the fleet, the servicemen of the tank battalion of a separate motorized rifle brigade worked out exercises of control firing with a regular projectile, as well as driving lessons.

The tankers fired from a 125-mm cannon with a regular projectile at emerging and moving targets on the move at a distance of up to 2000 meters, as well as from a large-caliber Kord machine gun at ground and air targets. According to the condition of the exercise, each tank crew is given three regular artillery shots, as well as 35 rounds for the PKT machine gun.

Driver mechanics overcame difficult areas equipped with artificial and natural obstacles.

During the training, the servicemen were tested theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Tank crews complied with the standards for loading ammunition, transferring combat vehicles from traveling to combat, for reconnaissance and target detection, as well as for assembling and disassembling standard PKT and Kord machine guns.
