Russian servicemen, continuing their peacekeeping mission in Nagorno-Karabakh, for the first time held a humanitarian action to provide drinking water for 300 schoolchildren in Nagorno-Karabakh. The action was held jointly with the Mercy Association of Charitable Foundations.

On the eve, the servicemen of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, at the request of the benefactors, delivered the cargo from Armenia by military transport.

“Today we have loaded humanitarian property in the form of plastic tanks to ensure uninterrupted water supply to schools, orphanages in remote settlements. This cargo was delivered yesterday, today the establishments to which we will carry have already been determined. Today these tanks will be dispensed, filled and connected to the pump system, ”said Ruslan Ivanov, a spokesman for the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

Russian peacekeepers handed over 3 and 5 ton containers for storing drinking water to schools in the settlements of Aygestan, Hovsepavan and Dashenk of the Askeran region. After their installation, the tanks were immediately filled with the help of special water carriers of the Russian peacekeeping contingent.

“Our school is in a difficult situation, since September 1 and in the summer we did not have water and it is very difficult. Students are forced to take water bottles with them. We have never had this, this year we have found ourselves in such a difficult situation. We are grateful to the Russian peacekeepers for helping us. Now they have installed a large water tank for 5 tons, this is salvation. We will be able to provide children, teachers and workers with drinking water. Many thanks to the Russian peacekeepers, the glorious Russian army, that everywhere in Karabakh they help both schools and civilians in villages and towns. This is not the first time, I have seen it in the city, and we all know that the peacekeepers are helping the people of Nagorno-Karabakh, thank you very much, ”said the director of the secondary school of Nagorno Karabakh. Aygestan David Mkrtychan.

“Today, together with the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation, we carried out our first action, namely the delivery of reservoirs for drinking water to schools in the village of Hovsepavan, Askeran region. Of course, this is extremely important because there is no life without water, we all know that this is an integral part and there is such a situation that children do not have water at all at school. Therefore, we consider it extremely important and the primary task to set ourselves this and resolve this issue. I really hope that these promotions will be endless, as regards water reservoirs, we have already purchased 21 reservoirs and we will be working on installing everything in the coming days. But our actions will definitely not end with this, we are now developing a program of action and will act in a planned and purposeful manner. It is impossible to overestimate in fact the role of the peacekeeping force because our coordination now seriously allows us to expand our actions and their effectiveness. In this particular case, the peacekeeping forces helped us in the first place to deliver these tanks, which, frankly, saved us an enormous amount of money. And right here the peacekeepers provide their forces in order to deliver and install, provide water. Of course, this is a tremendous support, ”said Mikael Badolyan, a representative of the Association of Charitable Organizations.

A total of 14 containers for storing drinking water will be transferred to kindergartens and schools in Nagorno-Karabakh, including those located on the contact line.

Earlier, servicemen of the humanitarian center of the peacekeeping contingent made more than 30 voyages of water carriers to provide more than 200 tons of drinking water to more than 1.5 thousand residents of Stepanakert.
