In 2022, regular river transport routes will return to the city.

In project “Active Citizen” The voting for the name for the first electric river tram, which will start operating in Moscow in 2022, has ended. Residents chose from five options: “Setun”, “Zhuzha”, “Yauza”, “Titmouse” and “Neglinka”. All the names coincide with the names of the Moscow rivers. This concept was proposed by Muscovites a year ago.

“This time a real struggle broke out between the participants. The three leaders were singled out at once from the options: Titmouse, Zhuzha and Yauza broke away from the other contenders. But which of them would win was not clear practically until the end of the voting. In the end, Muscovites preferred the Titmouse. This name gained 44,268 votes, ”said Alexander Pischelko, head of the State Institution“ New Management Technologies ”.

A total of 153 863 people took part in the voting. The winning option received 28.77 percent of the vote.

Muscovites will be able to ride the Sinichka in 2022 – it is then that they plan to launch two test routes of the first electric river transport in the capital. On the routes, 20 such electric ships will start operating in stages – each will have a name that is consonant with the names of Moscow rivers.

“In 2022, regular river transport routes will return to the city – this decision was made by the Mayor of Moscow. After almost 16 years, residents of the capital will again be able to move along the river and save up to an hour in travel time. In total, 20 electric vessels will operate for river transport. We will launch them in stages on two river routes: from Kievsky railway station to Fili park and from Avtozavodsky bridge to Pechatniki. The names of all ships will coincide with the names of the Moscow rivers – such a concept was proposed by future passengers of river transport a year ago. And for the first electric ship, Muscovites have already chosen the name – “Titmouse”, it will start carrying passengers next year, “- said the Deputy Mayor of Moscow, head of the Moscow Department of Transport and Development of Road Transport Infrastructure

Maxim Liksutov.

Each river tram will have 42 comfortable seats, including for people with disabilities. In the salon, you can charge your phone via USB ports, connect to Wi-Fi, and work at a laptop sitting at comfortable tables. There will be a separate space for bicycles and scooters.

One tram will be able to carry up to 16 thousand passengers per day. It will be possible to pay for the fare with a Troika, a bank card or using a biometric system. Thus, regular river transport, which stopped working in 2006, will be revived in the capital.

The electric river tram is a 100 percent eco-friendly vehicle that does not emit harmful emissions. It will carry passengers all year round.

Voting for the name of the waterbus opened the Active Citizen’s autumn voting season this year. Over the summer, with the help of the portal, Moscow residents managed to choose design of city checkpoints, decide what to call new station of the Big Circle Line, identify topics for the new children’s online environmental circle, and much more.

Project “Active Citizen” appeared in 2014. In seven years, more than five million people have joined it. More than five thousand votes were held on the platform. For participating in them, users receive points that can be spent in the rewards store of the “Active Citizen” project. You will be able to exchange earned points for souvenirs, excursions, discount coupons, replenishment of transport cards and payment for parking. From the end of 2020, project participants also have the opportunity to send their accumulated points to charity.
