On September 11, Russia celebrates the Day of a specialist in educational work of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. This holiday appeared in the Russian calendar relatively recently – in 2007. But the starting historical point of educational work in the troops is considered to be September 11, 1766. It was then that the charter of the Imperial Land Noble Cadet Corps in St. Petersburg was approved. In this charter, for the first time, the position of a military educator was designated.

“Not to be absent for a small time from their pets, to live beside them, to be content with the same table, in a word, to be responsible for their behavior, upbringing and morals, to give them examples of honor and those thoughts that lead to the true virtue,” in the Charter signed by Empress Catherine II.

Educators in the cadet corps of the 18th century tried to instill in pupils a sense of patriotism, pride in their country, and these principles are preserved in modern military-political work.

Today, the organization of military-political work in the Armed Forces is entrusted to the Main Military-Political Directorate of the RF Armed Forces. In every military establishment there are special educational structures whose officers are involved in work with personnel. At the Military Medical Academy, these issues are dealt with by the military-political department, which is headed by the deputy head of the academy for military-political work, colonel of the medical service Vladimir Lyutov.

The main task of the military-political department of the academy is the organization of military-political work aimed at maintaining a high level of the moral, political and psychological state of personnel, law and order and military discipline. The work of the department is aimed at rallying military teams capable of performing tasks as intended in any conditions.

One of the directions of the military-political department is the organization and information support of cultural events. These are gala concerts dedicated to festive dates, theme nights and creative meetings. The cadets and personnel of the academy attend theaters, concerts, the philharmonic hall – all this rests on the shoulders of the military-political department.

Deputy Head of the Military Medical Academy for military-political work, Colonel of the Medical Service Vladimir Lyutov is the Head of the Russian delegation of the International Army Games “Military Medical Relay”. The team of the Russian national team under his leadership not only takes prizes, but also conducts an active cultural activity. During the International stage in the Republic of Uzbekistan, our team visited Samarkand, where they laid flowers at the memorial plaque at the location of the Military Medical Academy during the evacuation period during the Great Patriotic War.

This year, the leadership of the military-political department initiated a new tradition – the solemn laying of the time capsule by the graduate students. Now, every year, graduates of all faculties, in addition to laying capsules with wishes for future generations of military doctors, will plant blue spruces on the alley of graduates.

The academy also actively cooperates with the Yunarmeys. The first medical special-purpose youth army detachment was created this year by the forces of the military-political department. The solemn ceremony of initiating schoolchildren into the ranks of the movement took place at the headquarters of the Military Medical Academy. The training of the Yunarmeys will be coordinated by the assistant to the deputy head of the academy for military-political work.

Specialists in educational work develop and publish information materials, arrange educational work rooms and visual agitation in personnel locations, provide psychological support for cadets, organize leisure activities, and provide legal protection for military personnel. The upbringing of the personnel of the RF Armed Forces is undoubtedly important for the state to have a strong army.
