The subdivisions of electronic warfare (EW) and air defense (air defense) of the Southern Military District (YuVO) during a battalion tactical exercise will suppress onboard navigation and control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of a simulated enemy at the Prudboy training ground in the Volgograd region.

EW specialists will intercept control of a simulated enemy’s unmanned vehicle and put it on their territory in order to seize intelligence information. Civilian drones and unmanned aerial vehicles, which are in service with the motorized rifle unit of the Southern Military District, will be used as a simulated enemy UAV.

The military personnel will intercept the control of the drones using the latest automated electronic warfare systems.

This week, four bilateral battalion tactical exercises are being held in the Southern Military District at combined-arms training ranges located in the Volgograd Region, Karachay-Cherkessia, the Chechen Republic and at a military base in the Republic of South Ossetia. About 6 thousand servicemen take part in them, about 300 pieces of weapons and equipment are involved, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery pieces and multiple launch rocket systems. For the purpose of interspecific interaction, more than 40 aircraft and helicopters of army and operational-tactical aviation have been attracted from the association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District.
