The monument will be built into the niche of the main facade of the building of the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Singing Center.
The Moscow government will provide the Regional Public Fund for Cultural and Humanitarian Programs M.L. Rostropovich, a grant of 15 million rubles for the installation of a monument to the opera singer, People’s Artist of the USSR, Galina Vishnevskaya. The corresponding decree was signed Sergei Sobyanin.
In 2016, the Ministry of Culture of Russia held an open creative competition for the best architectural and sculptural solution, the winner of which was the People’s Artist of Russia Alexander Rukavishnikov.
The monument will be erected next to the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Singing Center at 25 Ostozhenka Street. niche of the main facade of the building. It is planned to solemnly open the monument on March 27, 2022 – on the day of the 95th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding musician Mstislav Rostropovich, the wife of the People’s Artist.
The initiator and investor of the project is the Regional Public Fund for Cultural and Humanitarian Programs M.L. Rostropovich. The Moscow Government grant will reimburse 50 percent of the total cost of manufacturing and installing the monument.
